Alonso Races in the Dakar
« on: January 04, 2020, 04:39:34 PM »
Fernando Alonso will further expand his racing resume over the next two weeks. The former WDC is heading to the Dakar. He'll be piloting a Hilux pickup for Toyota Gazoo Racing. So, after several years of competing against Carlos Sainz Jr, he'll be up against CS Sr.

The Dakar itself is moving again. After a decade in South America, the 2020 edition will be run in Saudi Arabia.

Like many here, I'm a fan of motorsports, and if I had the time, I'd watch it all.  I don't, so I watch F1 almost exclusively.

Of all the races in the world, I've always thought the Dakar would be the most fun to drive in.  We like to think of F1 as 'international', but the Dakar (usually) is the most international race of them all!

He has 5 time Dakar bikes winner Marc Coma as his co-driver. They were 11th at the end of Day 1. They were putting in a good time on Day 2 until they they hit a large rock about 160 km into the stage. Two hours of repair dropped them to P64.
