Thoughts on the New Concord Agreement.
« on: August 27, 2020, 02:29:25 PM »
Not just about the agreement itself, but about how Chase Carey's negotiating methods are vastly different than Bernie's were.

I find it interesting that the Concord can be kept secret.

Liberty Media is a public company.  Daimler, Ferrari, Renault are public companies.  The deal is done under the auspices of the EU and FIA where transparency is supposed to be important.  This is also the first one signed by British teams that aren't in the EU, so surely that adds an extra level of 'transparency' that doesn't exist.

What other sports operate on such secrecy?  Certainly not major American sports.

On a tangent, but regarding production quality during the pandemic, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, do walkthroughs of team motor homes, and not just the hospitality areas.  Of course avoid showing IP on some wayward computer screen, but I would love to see the back offices, some driver “suites” and behind the scenes stuff.  With the paddock empty of tourists and team guests, it’s a perfect opportunity.

Yeah. The NHRA does that kind of walk through a lot.

I would like to see Lewis's trophy house, a cabinet would not be big enough, seriously what happens to all these trophies? Are they worth anything? What sort of quality are they? Do they stand the test of time?

Lando Norris tried this on Twitch during the Austrian GP weekend, but had to delete the video due to accidentally capturing some (barely-audible) IP. (Given media control in the pitlane, I was suprised McLaren gave permission for him to try!)

This is the problem - it's a working environment for all hours the circuit is open, and even if one tries to control speech during the tour, there's a high risk something will be said in earshot of the microphone that should not be heard.

Maybe Lando believes in the old saying that it's better to ask for forgiveness afterwards than permission beforehand.  ;)
