SPA!!!
« on: August 28, 2020, 09:45:27 PM »
A couple years ago, I did the briefing for Spa and spoke about the original circuit which was more than twice as long and even faster than today's track. Here's a good video of a drive around the old track. Try to imagine the brutal cars of the '30's or the delicate ones of the '60's averaging 150 mph past stone buildings with spectators right at the edge of the tarmac. They were very brave men.

The spectators were probably braver than the drivers
Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."

Nah, just too dumb to imagine one of those cars going out of control at 190-200+.

I can think of plenty of F1 drivers that also applies to Lonny.  :D

In the opening scenes of the movie Grand Prix, Yves Montand's character Jean-Pierre Sarti talks about imagining what it would be like to hit a tree at 160 mph. He says, "To do something very dangerous requires a certain absence of imagination."
