Perez loses seat

The shaft of the year. Stroll has to know deep down
Sergio deserves the seat but his Daddy saved it for him.
Luck in the future Sergio.....hope RP reaps what they deserve

They should be ashamed!
He saved the team and they now dump him.

If he can't find a ride or all he can get out
bottom of the grid I bet Indycar would welcome him

I am not pleased by this development. I think Racing Point are planning to sign either Sebastian Vettel or Nico Hulkenberg, but Sergio Perez is a better driver than both. While I wouldn't drop Lance either because he's going through a real purple patch, the better solution to me would have been to retain the lineup as-is.

Given Racing Point wanted change, I can see why Checo got dropped - both he and Lance (via his dad), in different ways, saved the team, there are only 2 seats in a given race team, and Lance wasn't holding a better offer - but the entire scenario is not going to get Racing Point into a better position.

Checo is likely to get a seat at Haas or Alfa Romeo, but I think, like dare, that he'd also do well in Indycars.

Vettel has been confirmed. I think it is rough for Perez but this is a dirty sport. It will be really interesting to see if Vettel does significantly better than Stroll i.e. will he actually be any better than Perez.

Sad but true.  F1 certainly isn't the place where character is rewarded on a regular basis.

It is possible that the forces Perez marshaled to save Force India are in conflict with the Stroll consortium, leaving Lance, Checo and Seb as pawns in a game out of their control.  In which case, good on all parties involved not to air the dirty laundry.

Jeri, you are very right. I am ashamed of my team's leadership right now, and proud of its current and future drivers.

I have a hunch Sergio has known for a couple of months that Vettel had been offered the drive and has been putting a brave face on it hoping his backers could provide enough financial clout to keep his seat, or Vettel would decide to retire instead. I just hope he was talking with other teams during this time.

The talk of going to the contracts board seems to have melted away, it only really helps if the team dropping you refuses to pay your contract, we know the board can't order a team to actually run you in the car. Conversely if the board finds in favour of your contract this may tie you to the team dropping you until end of the term, I think you then need their permission to get a drive elsewhere and may require your contact to be purchased, Perez wouldn't want that.

I reckon seat presently earmarked for Hulk at Alfa Romeo/Sauber (the other one reserved for Mick, Callum or Robert from F2) or a seat at Haas look the viable options for Sergio.

Contracts can be bought out (in most cases, at the end of each season), and we know the owners are wealthy. If the cheque cleared at the bank, the CRB can't help.
