I missed the first third of the race, let me tell you I was surprised to see Kimi running 6th when I tuned in!
F1 is a fantastically complicated sport, and I think Imola really showed that. A variety of strategies and approaches were visible at the race, and there wasn't one clear 'good' or 'bad' strategy. I think having the single practice session really mixed things up and gave a chance for drivers to drive.
I really felt for Russell. It's easy to forget how unforgiving an F1 car is, even for people whose job is remember that. Hopefully he builds off that mistake, realizes it's not the end of the world.
As a zero.. is it just me or are 'track limits' a much bigger deal this year than previous seasons? I understand the rules, and why it matters... are they more stringent now, or are drivers pushing the limit more?
Albon suggested if they want to bring back track limits, they should bring back gravel traps. I think that the paved runoff areas are great for safety, and car retrieval,so why not a meter wide gravel strip? Just enough that running it over is a disaster, but not so much that cars are dangerously skipping over stones, or stranded in no man's land? Also so that there isn't a whole truck's worth of gravel when a car comes back on the track.
