The first Canadian pole sitter since 1997!

I know that conditions at the track weren't the best, but that's when the kids who grow up in icy parking lots show what real skill is!

I guess nobody told Pirelli that the track had been repaved. It certainly made for an interesting weekend.

Stroll's race showed again why Racing Point
made the wrong decision. In the second best car
sitting on pole and he finds a way to make mistakes.

To be fair, RP made a bad call to pit him a second time. He pitted and dropped steadily, Perez stayed out and held second.  :DntKnw:

And the strake made a bad call to get lodged under the car...

...still, that was a magic weekend for me as a Racing Point fan  :yahoo:

Stroll's car was damaged? I hadn't heard that.

Hmm, if the data was showing a drop in front downforce and the car was understeering, I might have changed the front wing during the tire stop just to see what happened.

That would have been a reasonable call, unfortunately hindsight is not Racing Point's friend...

Trouble is that would have put Lance much further down the order as he was brought in when his lead was diminishing and would certainly lose extra places with nose change.

Seems the main reason he was brought in then was to cover off possible undercut from others, a long stop would certainly have put him out behind too many others making undercuts certain.
Passing other cars was also proving almost impossible by that stage in the race so I guess he would probably have finished in about the same place with a nose change.

Why all the conjecture, when interviewed after the race, he stated his tires were graining.....?

Didn't they find the damaged wing on Monday? I really
think they make excuses for his poor performances.
