Murray Walker dies aged 97

Murray Walker dead: Legendary F1 commentator dies aged 97.

Surely one of the most recognised voices on the planet. I grew up listening to his voice commentating on all types of motorsport, but mainly F1.

This is a sad day. RIP Murray

A very sad day indeed to learn 'Muddy Talker' is no more.

Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

You're a legend of motor/motorcycle racing and F1 in particular, R.I.P. Murray.

I know everyone has a different 'defining image' of F1 in their heads... a red car racing down a straightaway, Champaign soaked celebrations, a grid full of V10 engines roaring to life.

For me, there is nothing more 'F1' than Murray shouting Go! Go! Go!  He called the races when I was young and learning to love the sport, and it's never felt the same since he made way for younger voices.  He clearly loved the sport, and his love was infectious to anyone to heard him.

RIP to one of the greats.

Yep, between Murray and Howard Cosell would be a toss up for a defining voice of a sport.
I always enjoyed when Murrays enthusiasm gave way for accuracy.

I learned some years back not to mourn our losses, rather, to celebrate what we had.

R.I.P Murray Walker, best commentator ever who truly loved the sport.

I agree with what Coulthard said in the article cited above. Murray Walker could make even a boring race interesting. His enthusiasm and love for the sport was absolutely contagious. R.I.P.
