Verstappen complaining about Perez being too slow
« on: May 10, 2021, 01:47:00 PM »
I understand that RBR need a good 'number 2' but it seems to me that they have built a car around Max that nobody else can drive. Gasly is still showing what a good driver he is, Albon was successful in everything he had driven before the Red Bull and now Perez has apparently lost all of his talent! It can only be the car.

No question RB has set up the car for Max as he is the top dog in that kennel.
It will not suit a driver who has different needs and settings.
Adapt or exit boys.

Red Bull makes a great car and (usually) has the best pit crew in the business, both in terms of pitstops, and turning around emergency repairs in a short time.

They do NOT do a great job of driver development.  Why is it that STR/AT keeps providing great drivers who RBR chews up and spits out?  Maybe it's time to move Horner to a more senior role and let Tost run the drivers in RBR.

I feel Albon should come back for 2022.

Maybe they can try 'Mr Saturday' aka George Russell if Toto decides not to put him in the Merc senior team next Term.

Verstappen fell out with Tost (hence the odd timing of his move to Red Bull), so there's no way Tost will end up running Red Bull while Verstappen is there.

Have you considered it's t'other way round Jeri?

If so many of the drivers developed by Tost's junior team fail to make the grade perhaps they are not getting the right preparation to handle a seat in a front running team. Either that or Marko is identifying the wrong candidates for the training programme in the first place. - just a thought.  ;)

Timing is everything in F1, that goes for drivers being at the right stage to take on big drives, and seats being open at the right time when a hot prospect needs it.

I reckon RBR are rueing the day they had no room in top team for Sainz, from memory it was Max who stymied Carlos elevation to partner Danny Ric. Now for the hard question - was that the right decision?

I have no doubt that Marko is the problem. He abuses his friendship with Dietrich Mateschitz so that he can run the F1 driver program as if it his own personal plaything. I have been told (by a friend who knows a friend, etc. but apparently a reliable source) that everyone is expected to 'hail king Marko' and that he treats people, up to and including Horner, as if they are idiots. Success seems to hinge on if Marko likes you. He does like Verstappen and therefore the car has been made for him. However, Max likes a car set up in a very unique way that will not suit most other drivers. Because the car has been developed more and more towards Vertsappen's style, the number two car cannot be adopted to other drivers styles therefore, they have to learn to drive like Verstappen
