Think you've got the first controversial 'possible pass' incident confused with 2nd actual pass rmassart, the quick retake of the lead you describe happened after the shunt not prior to it.
Having said that the actual shunt between Max & Lewis was totally avoidable from all parties, Max, Lewis, Race control - and possibly even Mercedes crew.
Yes Max trangressed if he applied the brakes at all in that circumstance. However Lewis, who claims he knew nothing of the swap
, clearly failed to do what any other driver would do when faced with a slowing competitor in front for no known reason; namely just overtake immediatly and ask team for story later on.
How many times have we seen cars having mechanical issues being overtaken without a moments thought or hesitation from the follower? In the hundreds I'd guess, so why the hesitation and down shifts from Lewis?
Buggered if I know - does anyone else?
