Red Bull RB20 fails F1 crash test

(1/1)

John S:
Maybe it's not as dramatic as it first seems, they were on a super weight saving aggenda and appear to have layered up the carbon fibre a bit too thinly. Well let's hope it's just that.

Jericoke:
I get making the car as light as possible, but super glad that the FIA won't let it come at the cost of safety.

John S:
An update: All is not lost for Red Bull, seems they failed first crash test ahead of 22 season - look what happened after.  :D

The RB20, the latest brainchild of the great Adrian Newey, was testing a more extreme nose, Motorsport report.

It suffered damage to its chassis when testing before Christmas at Cranfield site & failed the test.

The early setback could be due to trialling innovative ways to meet the minimum weight requirement.

Trialling a new nose for their F1 2024 car may also be an attempt to increase front end feel for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

How severe is failing a winter crash test? Well, Red Bull also failed one ahead of the 2022 season which ultimately ended with Verstappen winning the drivers’ championship.
