Between Lawson and Bearman, anyone struggling in F1 should feel the pressure.

I'm sure there are other drivers of their calibre waiting for an opportunity to shine like those two took advantage of.

Yeah your right Jeri, there's 22 F2 champ Felipe Drugovich on Aston's books and Theo Pouchaire 23 F2 Champ waiting in the wings at Sauber/Audi.

The rollover of all drivers from last year into this season is not very helpful for the supposed ladder system of F3 to F2 to F1.  :crazy:

Last F2 champ to graduate to F1 was Oscar Piastri, he won 21 F2 season by a country mile and still had to sit on side lines for year.

With new F2 champ being forced out of series each year shows how much they need 11, or even 12 teams on the grid with all this talent going nowhere.

They need to create an 'F2 Champions' series as a holding series for everyone too good for F2, but without a seat in F1.

But the system is broken, what other sport forces athletes out because they're too good?

Sure, American College sports are really big, and you're limited to 4 years because you're technically in school, not a ladder system.  Junior hockey in Canada has the same issue, you can only play until you're 19.  In both cases there are still minor leagues  a player can join and dominate against equal level competition.

International open wheel racing really is missing that 'not quite ready for prime time' series.

It could be as simple as running F2 in the first half of the season, so that F2 drivers can compete for F1 seats with F1 drivers without having to rely upon a team being willing to delay their decision until the end of November. F3 could run in the second half of the season, so that they have some idea which seats in F2 are available for them to fill.

In addition, there need to be more teams (plural) for the upcoming drivers to occupy.
