Liberty Media CEO Maffei blocking Andretti F1

(1/1)

cosworth151:
Mario Andretti says Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei informed him that he will “do everything in my power” to ensure Andretti is never granted a Formula 1 entry. This took place at the Miami weekend.

“I was asked to go there,” said Mario to NBC News. “And just as I was trying to explain that to [Formula 1 CEO] Stefano [Domenicali], Greg Maffei, Mr. Maffei, broke in the conversation and he said: 'Mario, I want to tell you that I will do everything in my power to see that Michael never enters Formula 1.

“I could not believe that. That one really floored me. We’re talking about business. I didn’t know it was something so personal. That was really, oh, my goodness. I could not believe it. It was just like a bullet through my heart.”

Maffei is denying it. Yeah, right. It's really time to get Liberty out of F1.

Perhaps Mr Maffei will get a subpeona from Congress and decide to change his mind. Few people enjoy the popularity of Mario across the US.

Jericoke:
Eccelstone may have been a regressive a-hole, but he recognized opportunities to grow the sport when they came along, AND was willing to change course when he made mistakes!

He'd never let spite get in the way of a buck.

Dare:
Be interesting to see how the Andretti's and Maffei's paths crossed
in the past. Something had to have happened

Think Ron Dennis might disagree Jeri, after he proposed and voted in favour of McLarens 100 million fine over spygate.   :D

Seems there's more to Liberty's refusal to engage properly with Andretti Global over their FIA sanctioned entry then anyone thought.
It was supposed the power struggle between FIA president & Liberty's golden goose super cash machine was at heart of it.

Perhaps Maffei should be referred to an ethics investigation just like Ben Sulayem, FIA president, was subjected too after a convenient whistle-blower made peculiar allegations.
