Bahrain Unlocked F1 Competition winners pictures.
« on: June 20, 2024, 05:09:38 AM »
Hi

Over 200,000 people entered the Bahrain Unlocked F1 competition and I was the only winner so with my eldest son we went to the Bahrain GP totally for free with all the trimmings including a VIP pass to the paddock that cannot be bought.
Below is a link to 167 pictures and a couple of video's all taken by me bar the ones I am in.

That'll be my eldest son who I invited along as the prize was for two.

Looks like you had a fantastic experience!  I'm glad you got to do it, and glad you shared a little bit of it with us!

What was the story behind the pic with you

There's two, one is a 2023 RB steering wheel with Josh Hill who was brilliant the whole three days.
The second is LH's current steering wheel, US$50k worth, the Mercedes team had two tables just in front of ours and once they knew why we were there they included us in just about everything they were doing. It was these guys that let us in to have the shots taken with GR's and LH's cars. The only way I could have got closer to LH's car was to get in it, that would have been a struggle! LOL

I took some 800 photographs which I reduced to just over 400 so you have seen a snapshot of of this fantastic prize, the cost to me? I bought a bottle of water in an airport! It was good to have some text fun with Robem64 who was also there who I had met in Malaysia.
I am waiting for authorisation to post the video taken at the time and as F1 are going to use it as a promotion for further competitions I need to bide my time.

Wow Andy, what a great experience. lovely photos, hope we get to see your video sometime.

Like all the cars having pit stop tyre change practice, grub looks tasty too.  :good:

Were Ferrari shy?  They seem the only ones missing from your fine catalogue of F1 cars?

John S, Ferrari were there obviously and I did get some other shots of them but during the tyre change practice we spent so much time watching and photographing others that as we were heading back down the pit lane all the barriers had been removed and the safety cars were heading out onto the track which was quite surreal.
As for the food! There were six chef's in our section of the Paddock Club five doing mains and one doing deserts so the food was top notch and we soon became established with the bar manager and as soon as we walked in he knocked up a couple of Flat White coffee's while our Ferrari Champagne was poured and there was always a bottle of Bordeaux on the table.

Robem64, It was good to see LL but a surprise that as soon as I approached him the cameras started rolling.
I enjoyed the banter with you via text too all good fun.

You can buy Paddock Club passes but the VIP passed are issued and ours had our id on the back so had complete access to the Paddock which Paddock Club passes do not but as guests of F1 buying passes would not have been the same.

Just an after thought I want to add.
Out of all the teams along the pit lane Mercedes were the stand out team besides being welcoming and inviting us beyond the barriers they were magnificent in the Paddock Club.
Also worthy of a mention were Josh Hill and Jade Edwards who both enhanced out experience.
