Will F1 lap times take a hit of 10 secs or more with 2026 cars?

(1/1)

John S:
Toto seems to think they might!  :swoon:

Can it be true us fans will hardly notice if they lap much slower?

I think fans might be willing to trade a little top end speed if it brings about more competitive racing. How much is too much is the question.

Andy B:
But!
Reading DC's comments this morning on Planet F1 he believes the racing will change significantly and not necessarily for the better!

Jericoke:
Certainly we always focus on which teams adapt to the new regulations, but how about which drivers will adapt to the new regulations?

I think Max, and other 'younger' drivers who do a lot of e-racing might be more adaptable to driving cars that.

That said, if Alonso is still around, he's had great success behind any kind of car he's been in.  Proven adaptability!  And of course Hamilton has had victories in every iteration of the F1 rules he's raced in.  His domination may come down to the team, but he's won without the dominant car.  (As has Max, just fewer iterations)
