2024 Dutch Grand Prix Heroes and Zeroes
(1/1)
Jericoke:
I had a lot going on this weekend, just watched the race itself, no idea what happened in qualifying, practise or any of the off track goings on.
Heroes
Lando Norris. Didn't just win, but with the sort of commanding lead we've gotten used to Max Verstappen putting in.
Max Verstappen. Even though he was utterly dominated by Norris, was a very solid second place, never in danger of falling further behind. If we can believe the radio (big if) his car wasn't any where near where he wanted it.
Lewis Hamilton. Starting 14th and finishing 8th on a track that you 'can't pass on'?
Circuit Zandvoort. I love watching racing here. The cars going through the banking allows them to corner faster, which provides a great visual. I forget which five cars it was, but that lower midfield scrap with 5 of them coming out of the corner, looking like they're coming out of turn 4 at Indy was fantastic! (Even if Alex Albon felt it was dangerous). Even a variety of strategies were available to try.
Zeroes
I don't know. There were a few sluggish pit stops, there was a lot of room to play around with strategy so naturally some calls worked and some calls didn't. No one embarrassed themselves with their driving. The strong teams were strong, the weak teams were weak. Nice to see Albon move up from a low start, nice to see Alpine earn a couple points.

I second Jeri's vote for the Zanvoort circuit. I've always thought it was one of the best. One of the few that the changes over the years have actually improved the racing.
The return of Zanvoort is one of the very few (maybe the only) positive changes to F1 during the Liberty era.
lkjohnson1950:
According to Horner R/B set up for too much downforce on Max's car. Perez had less and seemed a little better. Max says it doesn't turn, eats its tires, and has been like that all along.
