They can always say that it was a farewell present, a last hurrah, to a long serving and very popular driver.

They can try that spin but given they didn't announce DR was leaving before or immediately after the race and, at the time of writing this, still haven't then it could be a difficult reason to convince the wider public of. In my opinion, a very poor way to handle the situation - at least allow DR to be given a proper send off by fans. Personally, I would ditch Perez and put DR in the car. What's the worst that could happen!

There is so much love for Perez in Mexico and Austin that RBR feels like a home race.  Aside from pissing off many many t shirt buying fans, it would interfere with the team being in a friendly and fun environment for those two races.  I feel that part of RBR's success is managing to have so many 'home' races:  Britain, Austria, Japan, Belgian, Dutch, Mexican, Austin.

Drivers come and driver go some stay longer than others so nothing has changed perform or you are in the history book.

All these conspiracy theories seem to overlook it goes in the record book although you don't get the point on the scoreboard.
VCARB knew damn well it was Danny Ric's last race, even if we didn't, and allowed him one more credit in official F1 record book, however insignificant we personally think that line is in the record book.

Sure it may help Max in WDC, but how many times have we seen glory runs from backmarker teams - especially Haas - when so far off the back they give fastest lap a shot in final laps. A=loads!
Oh and no one suggests it might benefit Ferrari. 

Have to agree Danny Ric's time was probably up about 18 months or 2 years ago, when you're past it it's almost impossible to get the magic back. Happens in all sport, in team games though the axe falls faster as team mates bring pressure on manager along with fans to get a replacement.

Sad when characters, especially chummy ones, leave F1. We'll soon find other heroes from new intake.
I'd moved Danny well down my scale of favourites 2 years back.
