Out of curiosity, has there ever been a successful instance of a team bringing in a 'veteran' driver to mentor a 'rookie' driver?

Certainly Aston Martin has been trying to get some results from Stroll by teaming him with champions, but I don't feel like that that's been 'successful'.

McLaren brought in Alonso and Hamilton, but I don't know if that was to mentor Hamilton, or just to maximize their chances to win now and later.  (And if that was an attempt to mentor, it failed about as spectacularly as possible, though the spying scandal messed things up too.)
