Happy 88th Birthday to Roger Penske, team owner & F1 US GP entrant 1961/62

(1/1)

John S:
Roger is such a famous American motor racing giant I never realised he actually is credited as a Formula One driver. He also took part in the 1963 Le Mans 24 hour.

Many Happy returns Roger.

lkjohnson1950:
Don't like Penske. I don't think he's good for the sport. He's very successful, but a bit shady.

cosworth151:
I agree with Lonnie.

Jericoke:
Never had a problem with Penske myself.  Shady or not, he's one of the pillars of racing in North America

lkjohnson1950:
I had some reasons before, but Penske was one of the car owners who started the breakaway to form CART. Then when CART was going through a bit of a rough spot, he was one of the first to jump back to the IRL, claiming his sponsors "demanded" he run at the 500. There are other examples but he has the loyalty of a flea. I think the only 2 people he ever had any sort of feelings for were Donohue and Mears. And I'm not sure about them.
