Author Topic: Webber once stalked Eddie Jordan to get an F1 or single seater start  (Read 1959 times)

Offline John S

A nice story about how racing drivers have to hustle and some team owners can be responsive and helpful to upcoming talent.

Both Mark & EJ come out of the tale with credit, leaving us all with a nice warm feeling.  :D

A great story! A time when people like Eddie & Stoddy were in a position to give a young driver a shot.

A note on the 1999 LeMans - Webber actually flipped the Merc twice. Once during practice and again during the Saturday morning warm up. Neither were caught on camera. After the first one, Merc added a pair of small "diveplane" type fins ahead of each front wheel opening. Needless to say, they didn't work.

Unfortunately, Mark wasn't the only one to flip a Merc.

In the picture there on the posting those little fins that were supposed to correct the problem are plainly visible between the headlights and the front wheel well.

Peter's flip is better known than Mark's two because it was caught on camera. (And proof that those little fins didn't work)
