Aston Martin selling Aston Martin F1?
« on: March 31, 2025, 11:20:17 PM »
https://www.planetf1.com/news/aston-martin-set-to-sell-stake-formula-1-team

Finances are complicated, but from what I can tell, Lawrence Stroll's company that owns Aston Martin, the car company, is selling their stake in Aston Martin, the F1 team.  The car company will continue to be the naming rights sponsor of the team, so the team will continue to be 'Aston Martin', but will not have any control over the team.

From what I've read, this is an effort to bolster the flagging car company.  Stroll is putting some of his own money into it.

I think it means that Lawrence won't have control of the team any more, which means that Lance Stroll will be on the team on merit alone.  Unless the sponsorship deal still gives Aston Martin say over personnel.  (And of course there is say in the legal sense and say in the 'would be a shame if we missed a payment' sense)

Think you'll find Papa Stroll is looking to push his & Yewtree stake in Aston Martin road car company (AML) to 33% by injecting cash for new shares whilst encouraging AML to unload it's Aston Martin F1 team shares for a generous above market figure.

Yes he's using his own money for the extra AML shares, by doing it I understand he has achieved 2 objectives:- (1) He's reassured his joint investors in AML that liquidity continues whilst they struggle to turn it around. (2) He's consolidating more value of his own stake in AMF1 by hiking the marketable price of the team, and all F1 teams a bit into the bargain.

Lance can have no fear that Daddy has forsaken him, even if Papa Stroll unloads some of the F1 teams equity to other investors at an even more handsome price he'll still own a substantial majority of AMF1.

Papa stroll got to be a Billionaire by making money on both the upturn & downturn of companies & businesses.  ;)
