Author Topic: A Look at how FIA tests loadings on F1 front & rear wings  (Read 5567 times)

Offline John S

I came across some images that give a glimpse of how the loads are applied to F1 wing assemblies during static load testing.
Since it's a hot topic ahead of Spanish GP this weekend thought I'd share.

Front wings being detachable can be tested away from the cars whilst rear wings are tested on the cars.

Don't know why these rigs came as a surprise to me, how else could you do it?  :DntKnw:

Front wing testing rig.

Rear wing testing rig.

Whenever I see something like that I automatically start figuring out exactly how it works. I've got questions about the nose wing testing rig: Are the attachment points on all F1 car noses standard? If not, do the teams have to supply an adapter to attach their car's nose to the test rig?

If they are standard, how much fun would a post season test be with say Ferrari and RBR swapping nose cones?
