Author Topic: McLaren eager to get first on-track F1 clash between Lando & Oscar out of way.  (Read 8476 times)

Offline John S

Tucked away in a longer article about drivers past, present & hypothetical, on Grandprix.com, Zak makes an admission that he hopes his current drivers get the inevitable head to head out of the way sooner rather than later.

I'm sure we're all waiting with baited breath too.  :D

Anyone care to suggest when & where it might happen?

I'm putting my money on Canada, so long as the weather don't play tricks again.  ;)

Brown also admitted he is keen to get the first on-track clash between teammates and title rivals Piastri and Norris out of the way. I don't think it's going to be as exciting as everyone thinks, and I think it will just be a racing incident, he said.

I think it's inevitable, but neither of them is a hothead, so it doesn't worry us and, to a certain extent, we're eager to get this thing over with.

I don't think Lando can afford to wait for Canada to put his elbows up (phrase of 2025 for Canadians, look it up).  If Piastri continues to finish ahead of Lando, and Max continues to put on pressure, Canada will almost be too late to let McLaren support both drivers.

If Lando wants to be taken seriously, the clash is likely to happen in Imola.

However, if Lando is able to fight back in the 'European Season', then Canada would definitely be the place for the showdown.

I'd love to see the top drivers DNF a little to let other drivers get a sniff at the championship.  Having several drivers in contention by the time of Brazil would be great.

Jeri is the term not "Elbows out" probably nit an American expression either?

"Elbows Up" is like Elbows out, for sure, but it's the ice hockey version.  Elbows out are to protect yourself.  "Elbows up" means you're done taking crap and ready to hurt someone who's wronged you.  In ice hockey they wear elbow pads that function like boxing gloves, you can hit someone with them without hurting yourself.

It's become an unofficial rally cry to tell Canadians we're done taking crap from the USA (government, not people)

By the size of the protests around America many of us are tired of the crap here too

Back in the Dark Ages when I frequently played basketball with my friends, we used to say you needed to "sharpen your elbows" if you were playing in the paint.

The area inside the foul line under the basket, usually painted a solid color. Lots of close in fighting for rebounds takes place there.
