Now we find out why Liberty wants more F1 sprint races

They just want more Sprints so they can up the take from the F1 venues.  :swoon:
Not sure it's been fully discussed in F1 media, or general media before that Liberty charges $4 million extra to have a Sprint at your event.  :DntKnw:

Evidence for this is courtesy a comment from promoter of Canadian GP amongst a longer piece about sprints for 25 season on Racefans.net in July 24.

Miami Grand Prix president Tyler Epp said the sprint event format brings “tremendous excitement and added energy to the race track” after holding it for the first time this year. But Canadian Grand Prix promoter Francois Dumontier claimed sprint races offer poor value for fans and isn’t worth the extra $4 million F1 charges for the format.

Not surprised a bit. Liberty's corporate motto seems to be "It's all about the Benjamins*."

When I attended the 2015 race in Montreal, I was there all three days.  I showed up when FP1 had already started, and got a prime spot in the general admission.  On Day too we showed up before FP3 and sat further back from the track, but still had a good view.  On Race day it was a huge crowd even though we got there early.

Maybe things have changed, maybe the general admission area is different from the fixed seating area.

But they were definitely making more money on race day than the other two days. 

I guess the question is if the Sprints really do bring in more fans on the first two days of the race weekend or not.

I was there then too Jeri and there didn't seem to be any more room for more fans and I'm not a Sprint fan anyway.
