I feel like big crashes are what make/break top drivers.

Before that big crash, it's hard to find the limit, there's always that back of your mind 'what if I crash'.  After that big crash, you know what it's like.  Kubica was a great example of that, surviving his crash in Canada he came back a much better racer.  Also I think Max's crash at Silerstone helped refine his career too. 

Can't think of an example of a driver who's career tanked after a crash (outside of career ending injuries), though I presume many younger drivers, such as Herbert in his crash, never come back from that.

Wasn't Herbert the one who had the huge crash in the Parabolica at Monza?
