Top F1 wingmen

(1/1)

Dare:
I'd take Perez off the list and add my Favorite Fisichella and Mark Webber.

Jericoke:
I feel like a 'number 2' driver isn't automatically a 'wingman'.  A wingman is intentionally the number 2 driver, knowing their job is to support number 1.

There's no way Webber was a wingman to Vettel.

Irvine and Barichello were very open about being at Ferrari to support Schumacher.  Verstappen was very vocal about the support he got from Perez.  (In '99 when returning from his broken leg, Schumacher made an effort to wingman Irvine... definitely the best driver ever to outwardly race in a 'support' role, even if it didn't really help)

Besides that, I think that Coulthard did a great job supporting Hakkinen.  I don't think he saw himself as a 'Number 2' driver, but once it was clear that Mika was the contender, Coulthard played wingman.

Definitely agree about Fisichella deserving to make the list. The mess Irvine made at Jag soured me on him.

passed him and Alonso had a fit. Flavio was Alonso's manager
and ran the team
