Author Topic: Fred at Ferrari, new PUs & loopholes may blow 26 F1 order wide open  (Read 1628 times)

We may very well see a changing of the guard on the F1 grid, however Fred seems to suggest that great aero may not be enough to overpower engine & in-car computer electrical deployment advantages - his driveability reference.

Going to be interesting to see the various solutions each team will be offering to the problems of 2026 Regs changes. Lets hope it's not another 2014 situation with one PU supplier getting a massive jump on the rest.

I can live with another Brawn GP scenario after all the big idea advantage only lasted for half a season, most big players had caught up by year end.
A note of caution here though as back then unlimited budgets were the order of the day, may be harder for teams behind the ball to catch up in budget cap era.

I agree the cap will make it tough for the teams that 'miss' the new regs to catch up.

I will renew my call for eliminating 'cost cutting' measures now that there's a cap.  Why limit the number of changes you can make?  If you want to spend on engine R&D instead of aero R&D go for it, but the rules really leave teams kind of stuck if they get either wrong.
