Once paid £25 as a donation to the GP Mechanics fund to visit Lotus GP in Norfolk in 1994 it was the week after AS and RR died and as part of the tour we met Alex Zanardi who at that time was reserve, Johny Herbert who could not be there was lead driver with Pedro Lamy his teammate who was involved in the startling accident the week before.
What a pleasant fellow Alex was he was quite happy to sign the posters given to us by Lotus and happy to chat with everyone.
R.I.P. Alex.

Alex Zanardi's story is absolutely fantastic.  I'm sure he and his loved ones would have happy for him to have a humdrum life, but he definitely turned his personal tragedies into ways to help the world in way very few athletes can.  Surely he had a fantastic support in his life to be able to do that.

I feel proud of following his career from the IndyCar days to the paralympics.
