That's a regular excuse but do they mean "we are not making enough money" rather than loosing money?

Some of them actually are losing money. I think even Netflix managed to lose money one quarter (which prompted another fee rise). I'm staying out of streaming altogether. And then people wonder why watching programs (traditionally or via streaming) is considered old-fashioned about many people in their 20s and 30s.
