There really is an Ai problem with F1 cars this season

Nothing new there. Over the years I've bet on plenty of horses in the Kentucky Derby that turned out to be real dogs.  :'(

Guy Martin stopped racing for BMW as the bike stopped him from riding the way he wanted to and BMW said they cannot turn it off as an example when the front wheel came off the floor under acceleration he would use the rear brake to bring it down but the bikes AI shut the throttle back and he was slower because of it.
I want drivers/riders to be in control not technology altering the racing.

Technological and strategic advances have always affected the way drivers race their cars.  Moving the engine back, adding aerodynamics, sequential transmissions, turbo chargers, refueling, multiple tire compounds.  Some drivers adapted, some didn't.  Some engineers got it right, some didn't.

I agree that AI making 'driving decisions' isn't great, but I look at it like some engineers have gotten the AI wrong, that there is room to fix it, for it to work with the drivers.  I wonder if someone is going to figure out that programming the car to match the driver,instead of forcing the driver to match the programming.  Schumacher and Vettel always had a close relationship with their engineers, I wonder if they could have adapted the AI better.

All the changes you state did not take control the car/bike whereas AI is doing just that and is wrong its overriding the driver/rider and that cannot be right and why a lot of tech was banned as F1 cars were able to drive themselves.

I sort of agree with you, I want the drivers to be difference makers, but I do enjoy the technical innovation.

I don't want to see the best driver be the one who can fiddle battery settings the best, so I'm glad that's being left to the computers.  Someone needs to figure out how to keep the computer out of the way.

On the other hand, drivers already have so many knobs and dials and switches, what's a few more?

All the dials and switches on the steering wheel are changed by the driver not a computer or with AI interference I appreciate that changing a switch goes through a computer but the computer cannot do it alone it is a driver input not a computer/automatic decision.

You all know I'm in favor of removing all the buttons and switches, or at least most of them. Start the race with what you hope is a good setup and get it to the finish with driving talent. I think it's ridiculous that Indy Car drivers adjust their cars going into and coming out of every corner at Indianapolis.
