Another reason to dislike Sprints
« on: September 22, 2026, 09:58:19 PM »
So Melbourne costs have gone up due to the addition of a Sprint race is what they are saying and who pays for that?
The Fans of course  and with F1 profits of $450 million they obviously need to raise prices.
While I'm at it 10 sprints a season is 10 too many!

Most of us saw this coming when a media company took over the commercial rights. They don't care about F1 the sport, only F1 the cash cow. You are spot on Andy.

I was onboard with Sprints under the idea that all three days of the weekend provide a competitive session, which means more fans per day, which means more tickets, more tshirts, more beer, and that's how the race tracks make their money.

If they really are charging more for the sprints, then, yeah, I'm out.  Personally I enjoyed practise being more sparsely attended than race day, gave me a chance to explore without a crowd!

I've never watched a Sprint Race and don't plan on seeing any.

20 years ago I recorded all the practices and qualifying.

You and me both but now sometimes I cannot be bothered to watch pre-recorded.
The reports I read for Madring I never saw any of the race.

I used to record pretty much every session back them too. Those were the days!

I used to have preference for Sky UK presenters but not so much now as watch less F1 but probably read more.

Looks like F1 is getting less fan following. Races happen and no posts.
Doesn't look good for the future

I quite agree and its more than just the PU's and Sprints the cost of going to a race has grown out of proportion and F1 is now seen as a cash cow.
V8's in 2030 will be too late for a lot of people but Liberty and the FIA seem to not care as long as the cash rolls in, I'm sure they would say look at the numbers attending races but I wonder how many continue with F1.
While I'm on a roll! LOL
Look at the cost of merchandise is that justified?
