Toyota planning big aero update for Spain
« on: April 10, 2007, 04:16:47 AM »
Last weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix showed the Panasonic Toyota Racing team that they had progressed since the season opening Melbourne GP, so the challenge now is to build even further on that at the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix, the worst event of their 2006 season.

However, the main reason behind that was that the Cologne based squad hadn’t tested in warm weather before the start of the season, so therefore they didn’t discover that they had bigger than expected warming up issues with their new Bridgestone tyres.

However, things are different for 2007 as not only is the race later in the year, so warmer conditions are expected, but testing at the Sakhir Circuit was part of their pre 2007 build up. That said, the six day session didn’t go as well as hoped as they struggled with reliability issues. They were all minor and have since been solved but it limited their running time and pace.

In Malaysia the Cologne based squad had developments to the suspension and a new floor and engine cover and as there is no time between rounds two and three, they will run the same package in Bahrain before a big aero update for the next race at Barcelona.
