Lambo Laptops
« on: April 18, 2006, 11:13:27 PM »
Lamborgini and Asus got all chummy one day and thought, ‘a super-car befits a super-notebook, together we can make our wildest car-come-laptop dreams come true’. And thus it came to pass: the ASUS-Lamborghini VX1 was born.

The slick speedster laptop, built on the Intel Centrino Duo get-up, is as fast as, well, a Lamborghini, and its waspish colouring and slender body teased us rotten at CES earlier this year. The 15 incher is slim and lightweight too, weighing less than most 14 inch offerings we’ve seen knocking about.

According to Asus, the new notebook is designed in the same way as streamlined supercars: ‘for maximum acceleration with supreme aerodynamics’. Well, at nearly two grand a pop, we’d advise against hurling it out of a window to test that theory out.

Sadly, there is only so far you can go selling a laptop on the premise it’s as sexy as a very fast, powerful car. It’s a laptop. But with eight operation modes - designed for gaming, watching DVDs, listening to music and word processing – which extend battery life by nearly a quarter, we’re happy to see them try.

The VX1 runs Windows XP, comes with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 and has a high-res LCD screen with anti-glare that’s kind to your eyes.

The ASUS-Lamborghini VX1 will be out mid-May for £1900. If you can’t be bothered to fly over to Italy to get one from the exclusive merchandising shop at the Automobili Lamborghini headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese - shame on you – you’ll be able to toss one into your e-trolley at the Lamborghini e-shop.
