Over 125,000 Expected for Formula One's Spanish Grand Prix
« on: April 17, 2007, 11:42:15 AM »
Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya is expecting a sellout crowd at the Spanish grand prix next month.

Bahrain's Sunday sellout tipped the scales at just 40,000 spectators, but the home venue of back to back world champion Fernando Alonso has a much higher capacity.

A maximum of about 125,000 spectators is expected in Montmelo on 13 May, after the Spanish circuit expanded its capacity in recent years to cope with the demand of Alonso's ardent countrymen.

"Some parts (of the circuit) are already sold out and there are seats still available in other sections," a spokesman said, "but our forecast is that the race will be a sell out."
