Remember Imola Last Year?
« on: April 20, 2006, 04:17:14 PM »

Alonso returns to the site of his defining win in last season's championship. A year ago, Alonso held off Michael Schumacher by 0.2 seconds after duelling over the final 12 laps to win the San Marino GP.

Alonso said "I enjoyed the final laps of the race last year, and it was an important race to win. But if I can do it again this year, on my own, a long way in front, then that's even better."

Alonso has performed slightly better this season than at this stage a year ago. He leads the standings with 28 out of a possible 30 points, two more than he had after the first three races of 2005.
