Red Bull Racing to run in Colombia
« on: April 20, 2007, 03:57:15 AM »
Red Bull Racing will carry out a demonstration run in the streets of Cartagena, Colombia, next Saturday as part of a Latin tour the outfit is taking on this year.

An RB1 fitted with a V10 engine will take on a 1.5-km stretch alongside the beach and the walled city, near to where the Race of Stars charity kart race organized by Juan Pablo Montoya took place two years ago.

Portuguese Red Bull Junior Team driver Filipe Albuquerque will make his debut at the wheel of a Formula One car during the run.

He was flown in straight from his World Series by Renault debut at Monza, where he finished fourth last weekend.

"It all happened very quickly after my race in Monza," the 22-year-old told autosport.com. "I was very happy when I learned I was coming here to driver the car. It's going to be my first time, but it will be spectacular. The location is quite nice."

The run will mark the first time in more than 20 years that a Formula One car has ever run in Colombia.

In 1983, local hero Roberto Guerrero drove an Ensign N183 in a race track near Bogota during a demonstration run for sponsor Cafe de Colombia.
