Why is is St Georges days comes and go's without any celebrations?

The Irish, Welsh and Scottish are all masters at celebrating their relevant 'saint' days - why don't we?

Ah but Stig, he may have come from a Turkish province but he was Roman soldier who protested about the treatment that christians were given and was subsequently put to death for it, does that change things

The National Anthem is fine by  me.
We play God save the Queen for Rugby,Football and Motor Racing
We play Land of Hope and Glory for the Commonwealth Games
We play Jerusalem for Cricket.

The Queen has already lost her boat, let her keep the Anthem.

Remember when we used to have the National Anthem when the TV switched off at night.  ::)

We had that over here in the States, too. But now the TV stays on all night!

By the way, there's a rumor over here that 7 out of 10 Americans think that the last four words of our National Anthem are "Gentlemen, Start your engines!" ::)
“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”
― Bob Dylan
