Could we see the giant leap in safety from the original grand prix races to todays standards. It would be great if you could get some old footage of some of these races in videos

Thank You for the rapid response, yes i am very interested in this era of  Motor Racing.I worked with the daughhter of a racing driver at brooklands during my days at Triumph and she got me involved and put a perspective of how harsh conditions were like. I thought it would be good to show how life use to be in the sport, after all today the young kids tune  in and its just like they are on X box or playstation.
Thankyou for your efforts in this matter
Kind Regards Dave

Great idea Dave and good footage Neil (you must be older than you look).

I will make a start on this over the weekend and see what I can come up with.

Keep up the good work guys  :good:

Check the new threads in Pit Pass, there is a host of information about various aspects of the sport, many have references to how the sport used to be back in the good ol days.

Let me know what you think.

Ian,
There's a brief account of the 1956 British Grand Prix at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1956_British_Grand_Prix

Sorry Ian, can't find much more information than that!
