Spyker plans new car for Turkey
« on: June 27, 2007, 02:40:54 AM »

Etihad Spyker managing director and team principal Colin Kolles confirmed the team are planning to unleash a new car at the Turkish Grand Prix.

The car will feature several of alterations to their current model and will be revealed for the 12th round of the world championship on August 26 in Istanbul.
He said: "We aim to have a new car ready for Turkey and we hope to put on a stronger challenge.

"Obviously our goal at Spyker is to score points.

"We could have come away with some points in Canada, but we had two retirements due to driver error unfortunately.

"In Indianapolis too many cars finished the race!

"We could have been in with a chance if some of the other cars dropped out. We have to wait for the faults of other teams, we can't yet compete by ourselves.

"There will be a number of changes (in Turkey) and there we hope we can do it with our drivers, not counting on others to drop out."

Technical director James Key added: "Later in the season when we're putting most of our development work towards some significant updates. The changes will come in Turkey.

"It's a big change really. Engine instillation, packaging of all the cooling and so on will be different.

"A new gearbox, a completely new rear suspension, which from the ground up is a completely new design. And around that a whole completely new aerodynamic package as well.

Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."
