Is this why Ross has taken a year out to go fishing?

That's a good point, Stig.  I doubt that Ross saw the writing on the wall but he was supposed to be having a meeting with Ferrari chiefs in July to discuss his return.  It's the 31st July today (well, okay, 1st August for you guys across the pond) and I've heard not even a whisper of a meeting.  Maybe Ross means to stay well clear of this one (I always said he wouldn't go back to Ferrari anyway).

Michael is still well involved at Ferraria in a so called role.Is it all a smoke screen to what will unfold?

I fully agree here. Ross Brawn went on a sabbatical from Ferrari to protest Kimi's signing and Michael being forced to retire.
It is evident that there is a power struggle within Ferrari and I think all what's going on is a precursor to that.

I bet Ross Brawn is thanking his lucky stars he got out when he did.

He's a no nonsense sort of guy - like Nigel Stepney, and hates to get involved in the politics of things. He is a racer.

Jean Todt on the other hand is..........eeerrrrr. Well, he's French. That just about sums it up.

Like I think it was Stig said earlier, this is just the sort of scenario that will put Rodd Brawn off every returning to the Prancing Horse. Or is it now a sulking horse.

On a different tack, while visiting a customer this morning I was stopped by a Ferrari fan who has obviously followed my weekly TV programmes on F1. He asked me what I thought about this whole affair. "Don't you think McLaren should be docked 20 points" he said. I asked him why, to which he replied, "because they have been stealing stuff from Ferrari for so many years!"

How do you answer to that one. :-[

Right on que, Ross Brawn has just issued a statement confirming that he hasn't in fact decided about his future, with or without Ferrari.

Can't say I blame him, right now.

More than anything else, I think Ross was distancing himself from Stepney's claim that Ross was going to lead a breakaway team of Ferrari employees.  He is very insistent that Ferrari is the only team he is talking to (so he is talking to them after all) and that, as yet, he was not considering any other team.

He wants to keep well away from this one, methinks.  ;)

I am not so sure Chameleon ! I think in time to come the Ross Brawn + MS combine will oust Luca Montezomolo and take control of the team.
Ross Brawn has had his share of intrigue and machinations. Benetton to Ferrari, illegal traction control in Benetton and so on.....

True, Raindancer.  But Montezemolo is an old campaigner and knows his way around the dark halls of Italian intrigue.  It's no accident that he is chairman of FIAT...

Montezemolo is like God in Northern Italy. People adore him.

He can only move up in the Fiat Ferrari heirerchy.
