  • Wizzo: GPW will be down from approximately 13:30 tomorrow until the migration to the new server is complete. Once the site is "live" on the new server it could take another 24-48 hours to become accessible to all users.

Wurz admits rivals for 2008 seat
« on: August 01, 2007, 09:01:20 PM »
Alex Wurz admits that he faces competition to keep his seat at the Williams team in 2008.

The Austrian veteran, who has struggled to impress alongside his teammate Nico Rosberg so far this year, particularly in qualifying, revealed to the news agency APA that he is yet to secure a contract beyond the end of 2007.

Wurz, 33, said: "I sleep very calmly at night, although many people are knocking on the Williams door - and some can offer a lot of money."

Current team test driver Narain Karthikeyan, with a swag of backing from India, wants to return to the grid next year, while Nelson Piquet Jr and Giancarlo Fisichella have also been linked with Wurz's seat.

The former long time McLaren test driver, however, said he prefers to concentrate on his race weekends rather than worry about the future.

"Everything else will then follow naturally," Wurz added.

He said: "Anyway, I think it is too early to think about 2008. But that doesn't mean that I cannot keep my eyes open."

I think out of those drivers mentioned the only one I would go for would be Piquet Jr race for my team, but I am not sure he would offer more than Wurz does, and I would not be happy with Williams becoming a finishing school for Renault.  Fisi is good, but I would say he is not really what Williams need.  I'd rather stick with Alex.

Good comments.

Today we have a wealth of drivers who are on the pace given the car.Hamilton has proved it with his talent and drive. However people like Jenson have fallen due to the car.

I see only three teams who can challenge for championships, the others are going round at great expense for consructors points............This is why the likes of Jordan expired because they just could not compete.

Next years constructors cars may even the playing field, but it will not solve the problem.

It will always cost a lot of money to go racing in the devine car.
