Renault commits to F1 until 2012
« on: May 17, 2006, 10:20:07 AM »

In the wake of the news that the five manufacturers that comprise the Grand Prix Manufacturers' Association (GPMA) are committing themselves to F1, having reached a satisfactory deal, Renault F1 president Alain Dassas was the first to issue an official statement, revealing that the French manufacturer is committed to F1 until 2012.

"The agreement the team has reached today with FOA expresses the Renault F1 Team's commitment to Formula 1," it read. Having entered the 2008 championship last month, this is the next logical step to guarantee the commercial stability and competitiveness of our team.

We will now pursue our constructive dialogue with the FIA and the other teams to achieve our shared objectives of an improved sporting show and reduced costs.

Renault's long term investment in F1 has got to be good news  :good:

Update

Business leaders and politicians in west Oxfordshire say that Renault F1's decision to support the Formula One organisation will safeguard 500 Oxfordshire jobs.

Keith Slater, of the Oxfordshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "It's good news. Oxfordshire is a centre of excellence in the motor racing business, and it's good to see it prosper."

Renault also employs 250 people in Paris. Renault team president Alain Dassas said: "The agreement the team has reached with FOA expresses the Renault F1 Team's commitment to Formula 1."

Other motor racing teams around Oxford - Williams F1 in Grove, Super Aguri in Leafield, and Honda in Brackley - have already committed themselves to supporting the FIA.  :good:
