You can't buy class

Cheap shot!
Luca di Montezemolo, the chairman of Ferrari, has developed a bad habit in recent weeks of opening his mouth and saying controversial things. A few weeks ago Montezemolo told students in Rome that he had been a World Champion copier when he was taking exams and that they would do well to copy things from others. This came at the height of the Stepneygate revelations.

Now that the FIA has decided to punish McLaren for being in possession of Ferrari data, despite having absolutely no proof that it was used to improve the performance of the cars, Montezemolo has waded in saying that "whoever wins the Drivers' title will do so either with a little bit of Ferrari or with a proper Ferrari".

It is shame that the team needs to use such ridiculous claims. It would be better to win the World Championship on the race track rather than in the newspapers.

I agree that it's poor form to make such silly statements.....is it really too hard to ask a team to have a bit of sportsmanship about them??.... I don't like all the Ferrari bashing....not 1 single team is completely without their bad points....but Ferrari management have proven themselves to be rather poor sports boasting about winning the constructors championship....I only hope that next year proves VERY boring in the controversy department.

I wonder how many magazines and websites are still totting Mc Laren's points - including the ones taken so abusively in Hungary.

I wonder how many magazines and websites are still totting Mc Laren's points - including the ones taken so abusively in Hungary.

I've noticed that several websites are still listing McLaren at the top of the standings with their point total in parentheses.

I think Ferrari should take a queue from Schumi and Rubens at Indy in 05. That was the year they won by default when everyone but them, Jordan and Minardi couldn't race. The two Ferrari drivers took the podium but didn't celebrate or even spray the Champaign.
