Dear Pedro,..............
« on: October 09, 2007, 06:05:58 PM »

Hi Guys,

I've returned from sunny Spain and Mrs Wiz and I now look even more like bronzed Greek Gods!  ::)

I'm sorry I wasn't around for the Chinese GP, I managed to use my blackberry to log onto the site everyday to get my 'fix' but despite my valiant (desperate) efforts I couldn't get the chat room working! Grrrrrr!

See you all in Brazil.

Cheers guys, I watched the Chinese GP with great interest on Spanish TV and noticed two main differences to watching it in the UK.

1. Alonso was giving interviews to Spanish reporters left, right and centre whereas he rarely talks to UK reporters.

2. The race was interrupted with the usual annoying adverts, but the TV screen split into 'picture in picture' mode so you watched the race and the advert at the same time. What a great idea! Why don't we have this very simple facility??

Glad you and Mrs. Wiz had a good time.......welcome back mate, so far i think I am the only MAYBE for Brazil, only because the race is on at 2am on a Monday morning.  But I am going to try and "tough it out" by getting up for the race.

RTL does the same thing (although not during EVERY commercial).  They have the best pre and post race shows, so if I'm taping it, like I often am, I put it on RTL, but if I'm around when it's on, I switch it to Swiss TV because they only have ads before and after the race (yeah, that's right kids - 2hrs of uninterupted racing - very cool).

Glad to hear you enjoyed your well-earned break, GPWizard.

As to the breaks, there's an OFCOM rule against doing "picture-in-picture" adverts, unless the ad break is only one advert long. ITV could probably lobby to have the rule changed, but I don't think they'll ever be bothered...

IndyCar has been doing the split screen adverts for some time. The only exception is the local station cut-aways.

One problem with the Spanish weather girl. When she started to talk about Salt Lake City, she turned to her left and the whole state of Utah disappeared! :swoon:
