Lewis Hamilton to front a new video game by EA
« on: October 31, 2007, 03:23:16 PM »

The Sun reports that Lewis Hamilton, who narrowly missed out on a F1 Drivers Championship title this year, has signed with publishing giant EA in a deal worth an estimated £5 million.

What game Hamilton will be fronting is unknown, although a racing title seems obvious. Sony had held the F1 licence, with the PlayStation 3 launch game being the latest game in the series. It's unknown if EA's new game will carry an official licence.

The Sun reports the new game is in development for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, presumably meaning we'll see the title on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Expect to hear more on this from EA in the future.

EA puts out an annual "Madden NFL" game, named after former coach John Madden. It has led to the story of the "Madden Curse." Whatever player appears on the cover of the game will be cursed throughout the season following his appearance on the front of the game either by poor performance, injury, or retirement.

Lewis, please, you've got enough trouble with Max!

EA puts out the Tiger Woods games too, and he doesn't seem too cursed.

I read an interview with Lewis before Brazil.  He said he had driven the track on a Play Station (didn't mention the simulator).  He said he was looking forward to next season when he could be himself in the game.
