How can a car that is designed to travel at 3 times the speed it was doing be written off at 100kph(62mph)?

That's gotta be more than a little embarassing..... glad no one was hurt though....

I wonder if the Fiat board members will vote to make him pay for the car??

If the cars hit head-on, the combined speed of the impact might have been far higher. Also, modern cars are designed with "crush zones," which deform to absorb the impact of the crash. This way, the force isn't transmitted to the driver.
