Jaques Villeneuve made his first NASCAR Cup race start at Phoenix on Sunday. JV qualified his Toyota 27th and finished the race 41st after a shunt. Montoya qualified 14th and finished 17th. Former open wheel drivers Paul Menard, Sam Hornish, Jr, and Patrick Carpentier were also in the race.

If you're wondering why so many drivers are going to NASCAR: Phoenix is a minor race in the Cup series. The car that finished in 43rd (last) place got $107,820. And that doesn't count contingency money.
