This is just Bernie trying to influence the outcome as usual.  His comment comparing using an extra set of wet tyres in free practise with illegal fuel temperature is pathetic.  No-one gained by using the tyres but performance was gained by illegally chilling the fuel.  If fuel temperature is not an issue why is there a rule about it and why do teams spend thousands of pounds shipping chilling equipment round the world.  Max is always looking at cost savings why not have everyone supplied with fuel from one storage tank?

There are only two disappointing things about Bernie's reitrement comment.  He won't do it and he won't take Max with him.

I don't think Lewis wants the result changed, because he knows he won't get any respect for it.... Lews is a good sense of honour and wants to win the WDC under his own steam, not on the back of a WMC descision.

As always I could be wrong, this is just my opinion

I agree with you that Hamilton doesn't want to win the WDC this way. The way I see it, however, is that what he did all season won him the championship, not just the WMC action. After all, this season has been so tampered with any way that it's hard to give a clear championship to anyone.

And, if it helps to send Bernie packing..........

Bernie moaning about what's bad for F1...why didn't he jump up and say he was going to retire after the ridiculous way McLaren was treated by the FIA and the outcome of the spy scandal?

It is interesting that Bernie is threatening to retire if it is proved that teams gained an advantage by illegally cooling fuel.  He did not threaten to retire when McLaren were hammered by Max for actions which as far as we know have affected not a single lap of the season.  He did not threaten to resign when Ferrari were allowed to race a blatantly illegal car in Melbourne.

Interesting that he should only threaten to go when there is a chance of Ferrari losing and McLaren winning.  There is of course no bias associated with Bernie, Max or the FIA.  They are simply preventing Ferrari from feeling that there is bias against them.

If Bernie had kept his mouth shut, he would have got the result he wanted (i.e. the champion would have remained the same) because in the past, fuel irregularities were punished with the removal of constructor's points only (e.g. Michael Schumacher and Coulthard in Brazil 1995). Now, whatever decision the Appeals Court makes will be tainted. Since Bernie is a member of the WMSC (the FIA's rule-making council), I think the FIA should subject him to some sort of disciplinary action in the same way as they implied they were going to do when the Spanish representative of the WMSC made foolish comments in relation to the "fair play tsar" before Brazil ahead of schedule. They can't actually fire Bernie, because they need him to keep track of the web of companies he's created (and more fool them for not ensuring Bernie developed a succession).

I really hope no positional changes are made today it would be a fasle championship and I'm sure nobody wants that.
I think this all proves more than ever that the FIA require new management!!!
Once you have retired every day is a Saturday!

The judgement will now be given in Paris. I suppose this must mean that the traffic strikes that made the court be moved to London in the first place will no longer be a problem...

This must be part of Max's new greener F1.  Have one day in one country and the pointlessly, expensively make an environmentally unfriendly move to another.

Insufficient valid data to answer with, ian. There was also something about McLaren not following the correct procedures, but since it could not be proved that the BMWs and Williamses were in contravention of the rules, there was no way McLaren could win anyway.

And Steven, it's great to see how you put the nonsense of the appeal location into its proper, ridiculous, context.
