Get Smarter with Free Rice
« on: January 20, 2008, 11:25:30 AM »
As the staple diet for over half the world’s population, rice is a key component in World Food Programme’s operations, whether helping flood survivors in Bangladesh or feeding hunger’s less high profile victims: from those living in shanty towns in Jakarta to the mountain villages of Bolivia and Nepal.

Now you can help the WFP and have some fun too, pop along to their website and play the vocabulary game. For every word you get right they donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations to feed people less well off than us.

WARNING: This game is very addictive and when you get a word wrong they give you a slightly easier one to help you build up your score again, clever eh? Lets face it we could all be a little smarter if we tried, well apart from Mrs Wiz of course, apparently she knows everything!

I heard about this on the radio a little while ago.  Of course by the time I got home I had forgotten about it.

Having fun and helping a good cause at the same time!

It's an infuriating game.  One wrong answer you drop a level but you need two or three to go up one.  I can't get past level 43.  Still I have now provided 4000+ grains of rice.

I'm up to level 45. Apparently there are 50 people, but very few people manage to get beyond level 48. Nonetheless, I'm going to try...
