Honda still dreaming

I don't know what Honda put in their water but it must be good.

They have announced that if Rubens or Jenson wins a race this season everyone in the team will get $2000.  This is intended to motivate people.

What kind of management gives its lowest paid employees an incentive they have no hope of ever seeing.  You may as well call them in individually and say we could afford to pay you $2k a year more but we won't.

I think it is time Honda stopped thinking about the power of dreams and started dealing with reality.  Ferrari aren't dreaming.  McLaren aren't dreaming. ...........

The key thing is the winning of races, should they acheive one or more wins of course Honda will be happy to pay, there will be more money coming to the team because of a win so they can also easily afford it.

Just paying everyone more wages won't neccessarily improve anything, whereas a win bonus brings team spirit and carrot, however distant, for them all to reach for.

Honda also claim it as a staff retention aid, the trouble with this is no wins no bonus so in the longer term many of the crew may become disenchanted. After all a target that cannot be acheived becomes meaningless and eventualy becomes de-motivating.

Excellence in performance is its own reward.  You cannot buy loyalty and dedication.

I'd be surprised if Honda have to pay out this season, and some people will be pretty annoyed if  no payment arrives...

although what would probably motivate them more is losing a thousand quid from their wages for every race they lost  :good:
