Survey reveals British cars still top the desired list
« on: February 10, 2008, 06:53:06 PM »
According to swiftcover.com 69% of you would opt for a British brand.

German, Italian and Japanese cars still dominate the must have lists but the iconic British cars dominate the heart and the top of any wish list.

With your money in hand you would expect the biggest queue at Aston Martin dealerships with nearly 1 in 4 choosing to be like James Bond - or a Surrey housewife! – But don’t go choosing the DB9 as you wouldn’t afford it with that budget.

The first “foreign” make, Porsche, appears 5th on the list with 9% opting for the entrepreneur’s favourite - according to the survey. Some more exotic metal is found further down the list with Ferrari 6th and Lamborghini 10th.

The top ten “dream cars” for 2008

1 - 24% - Aston Martin
2 - 19% - Range Rover
3 - 16% - Bentley
4 - 10% - Rolls Royce
5 - 9% - Porsche
6 - 9% - Ferrari
7 - 6% - BMW
8 - 4% - Mercedes
9 - 2% - Maserati
10 - 1% - Lamborghini

well i suppose a yugo is a fiat rip off, and a ferrari is a fiat with a posh badge on it, so the spirit of the yugo is there in spirit if not design  ;)

Porche, there IS no substitute!  I'm not a Tom Cruise fan, but that was a great line, and that's my dream set of keys.

I'd go for a Mercedes Smart if I could drive and had a free choice. Really easy to park, relatively light tax, good fuel economy and (unlike the Fiat Cinquecentos and similar trendy hatchbacks) unlikely to be attractive to the sort of teenage car thieves that inhabit the nearby dodgy residential areas.
